Thanks for the outpouring of congratulations! (if you're not in Naples you can stop reading here.) It was a hard fought battle but when you're this good... well I mean come on, I'm making this look easy. To the playoffs, try to keep up if you can. (I mean 4th place? WEAK.)

The Champ is the Champ!
It is clear that overall 2011 Champion Patrick will be the regular season champion for 2012. After the early games today, both Patrick and Cousin Wayne have two losses. Because Patrick was ahead by one point and they have identical picks on the late games, Patrick will inevitably win the season by one point.
All of the late game picks are virtually identical, so no one else can make any in-roads either.
Congratulations Patrick!! Our 2012 Season Champion!

The block continues. League office please note the semi-retraction issued by owner Cuz Omaha concerning his point total. The slant on this though is that he is still looking for others to take partial blame for his "new" math. Aunt Millie would not be happy! Where in the world is Matt Lauer and Ct. Kirk. A second half swoon(or more like a leap) has him on the football cliff. Brandy can still win if everyone else forgets to pick all of the playoff games. She has been uncustomarily quiet this season. Patrick will choke as usual so the road to the title is wide open. Please read the playoff rules carefully(except for Ed). The Commish tends to insert things just to see if we are paying attention. It is part of his critical thinking background. Very annoying. Di, thanks for the pics of Uncanoonic. Awesome.
Happy Holidays to all

Ah, yes, now I see the mistake. I counted the "X's" and saw only one more than Patrick, so couldn't understand the tally.
So, yes, I did pick the Jets (what the hell was I thinking?) and so I do trail the kid by a point.
Thanks to our honorable Commish for straightening this out, although I'm sure he's still full of eggnog.

Week 16 Observations
1. The Champ has overtaken the Cuz by one point. 166 to 165. Lurking 3 points away is the Commish with 163, followed by Kirk with 161, Kevin 160, Kate 158, and newcomer Marc with 157.
2. The Champ is in good position to be the first member to win both the regular season crown and the playoff and Superbowl. He could do all of that in a single season as well.
3. Connecticut Kirk has run into some bad luck recently. After consistently challenging each week, he has seen his average dip the past few weeks. Last week's 8-8 really checked his progress. He is still solidly in contention, however.
4. Son Luke called a few weeks ago and said he saw the stat sheets for the first time and pronounced himself surprised by his low scores. Sine then he has been 11-5, 12-4 and 12-4. When asked how he came to improve he said, "I thought about it more." Solid reasoning, I have no doubt.
5. Pick of the Week goes to Diane for her solitary pick of the Vikings over the Texans. Reverse Pick of the week goes to Kirk for his pick of the Cardinals over the Bears, and Diane for pick of the Eagles over the Redskins and the Chiefs over the Colts.
6. Unanimous choices did very well. The Falcons, the Panthers, the Pats, the Packers, and the Broncos all won.

Never Too Much Christmas Cheer...
The Cuz put forth some fuzzy math of his own. He wrote: "Patrick was 12-4, whilst I was 10-5. Since we both picked 16 games, and I clearly picked 11 correctly, I am asking that the commish put down the bottle immediately and correct the standings."
A look at the stat sheet suggests that he didn't supply a pick for the Chargers-Jets game and therefore he wasn't 11-5, but rather 10-5-1, the one being a no pick. Under review, the Cuz did make a pick for the Chargers-Jets game. Unfortunately, it was the Jets, so he is left with a 10-6 week and remains one behind The Champ.
By the way, because the Cuz picks out of synch with the schedule as presented on the blog mistakes are more prevalent. It is much easier for the central office if members pick from the blog's schedule, as the vast majority of members do.
Here is the latest stat sheet:

fuzzy math, too much Christmas cheer???
Hmmm, I suspect our honorable commissioner has been into the eggnog just a wee bit too much this holiday season.
I couldn't figure out how the defending champ, Patrick, could gain two points on me when he lost just one less game than I did.
Then I did the match. Patrick was 12-4, whilst I was 10-5. Since we both picked 16 games, and I clearly picked 11 correctly, I am asking that the commish put down the bottle immediately and correct the standings.
It appears the kid and I are racing towards the finish line in a dead heat!

Carolina over Oakland
Miami over Buffalo
Pittsburgh over Cincy
Pats over J-Ville
Indy over KC
Saints over Cowboys
Washington over Philly

Angie was transferred to the Madonna Rehabilitation Facility in Lincoln, NE yesterday. After she is strong enough to withstand surgery, the doctors will remove her right adrenal gland, which has a tumor and considered the cause of her sudden extreme high blood pressure and heart attack. The doctors are controlling the blood pressure with medication.
The surgery is expected to take place in 4 to 8 weeks, but knowing Angie and how fast she has recovered, I suspect it will be closer to 4 weeks. She'll wear out those physical therapists whipping them into as good shape as she is.

The Commissioner's Observations, Week 14
1. Cuz Wayne finally overtook Connecticut Kirk, edging him out 143 to 142. It seems appropriate that the deciding pick was Kirk's pick against the Patriots on Monday night. They were tied going into that game. Pick against the Pats at your own peril.
2. In a show of good sportsmanship, Kirk called to suggest that Wayne be given the same picks as him so that, if Wayne should miss the week's picks because of Angie's situation, that Wayne wouldn't fall out of the race, Good show Kirk.
3. The Champ and the Commish took a tie for third place at 141. Kevin fell to 138.
4. Pick of the Week goes to Luke with his pick of the Chargers over the Steelers. Hard to believe that game.
5. Unanimous Picks did well. The Broncos, the Browns, and the Seahawks all won, while the Falcons lost.

Greetings from Omaha
My Thursday Night pick:
Cincy over Philly
And now for an update:
Today, Tuesday, 12-12-12, was a banner day! They did an echo-gram (or whatever they call it) on Angie early this morning, and... HER HEART WAS BEATING NORMAL!!!
They took her down into surgery around 11 AM, and removed a tube inserted into her right groin area, repaired the artery, removed her from life support and brought her back to her room. She remained heavily sedated all day, but she is on the road to recovery!
They still don't know what caused the heart failure. They were thinking it was a virus, but now they aren't so sure. They said with a virus, it would be very unlikely she would recover her heart function so quickly.
They will be doing a lot of testing from her head to her toes trying to find out the cause.
Angie is still having an issue with blood pressure; it wants to jump up radically, but they are now controlling that with medication. In previous testing they noticed "something unusual" about one of her adrenal glands, perhaps a small mass, possibly a tumor. They are doing another kind of test in the morning that should give a better picture of it.
But I am cautiously confident the most critical issue, the heart, has been resolved. As far as I'm concerned, the doctors will eventually determine the cause, treat it, remove it, medicate it, whatever, and hand us back our beautiful daughter.
We will keep you updated as much as we can.
Love you all, and thanks to everyone for your prayers and best wishes.
Love,
Cousin/Uncle Wayne
