Observations from Week 2

1. Jude the Prude Excels. Judy has had a strong start, just as she did two years ago before running into an investigation about her alleged professional gambler status. Her 13 points edged out 12 each from Nashua and Omahahahahaha.

2. Nashua on the Ascendancy. Peg had another good week and after two weeks is averaging 12.5 weekly points. She takes the picks quite seriously and pours over the picks chart each week. It seems to be paying off for her.

3. Omaha, Big Red and Pops Strong. Wayne, Karen and Ryan are also off to a strong start, all having 24 points. Wayne and Karen are quick to pick each week, but Ryan needs some prompting sometimes. It doesn't seem to hurt him though.

4. The Mendoza Line Lurks. A few members flirted with the Mendoza Line this week and one obliterated it. Nick, Sean, Luke, and Patrick all came in 8-8, and Lindsey, who had a strong rookie year, dropped below the Line with a 7-9 week. But the award for How-the-Mighty-Have-Fallen goes to the Boss. Jo had a 5-11 week! Not quite a tie of the Ghosts 3-13 pace setter from a few years ago, but a hole she must get out of. Look for her to go for the underdogs again! If you remember, Jo employed a bet on the underdog strategy in the playoffs last year and almost won the Chappie for the third straight year. If she had stayed with that strategy in the SuperBowl, she would have succeeded. But she abandoned it to pick the Pats and the rest is history.

5. Deland Gang Struggling. Kevin, Jo and Sean are 17, 16 and 19 so far this year. Always competitive, the Gang seems to be caught up by the realignment of talent shown so far in the NFL. This might be the year the NFL talent shifts to a host of new teams. The Pats, Cowboys, Steelers, Seahawks and Saints don't look sharp.
