Observations from the Commissioner
Some Points to Consider:
Most successful pick: Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, and Saints, by everyone
Least Successful Pick: Panthers, by Bran and Ryan and Bengals, by Marc
Gutsiest Picks: Dolphins by Bran and Ryan and the Great Kate; 49ers by Sean and Jo; Vikings by Sean and Bran and Ryan
Almost Gutsiest Pick: Panthers, by Bran and Ryan
Trends: Kevin is holding on with 57 points, but strong records in trhe last two weeks have propelled Sean and Bran and Ryan to 56 point each. It could get ugly, knowing Kevin (and Bran seems kind of feisty as well). Wayne is steady at 54, Mike with 53 and coming up on the outside is Jo with 51!
The Principled Person Award this week goes to Marc for the reason he picked the Bengals: "I don't like the Jets."This reasoning is direct opposition to Ed's tendency to pick one team but root for the other. Apparently, this is the way he plays the horses as well.
Rumor of the Week: The Commissioner has heard that Ed is preparing to request an invalidation of the past three weeks' results. The reason given is that he thought we were playing low-no.

pick of last week
Brandy writes again:
Since the commish has not performed his duties this week... I will vote myself pick of "last" week. I was the only one to choose the Redskins. I was very proud of this pick! Especially because... just before choosing the Redskins I asked Sean "The Washington what?
I vote that we impeach the commish, and kick him out of the family as well.

Brandy writes: This is an outrage! Wayne gets his picks in late, and still manages to get points for the Thursday games? I think the commish has gone soft. I am demanding that Wayne be removed from this game, and better yet be removed from the family.

I must agree with the Commish on this one. Ed probably needs to consult a physician about his condition. Two weeks in a row!!!! He is just begging to lose. I guess he is comfortable in that role. Brandy was thoroughly chastised for last week's actions. The board of governors may need to meet to decide about Ed's issues. As Patrick Henry once said " Give me the Pats or give me death". This borders on treason. I think Uncle Ed has been around horse poop for too long. His judgement is clearly clouded just like the New England weather!
On the up side, it was nice to the Bears drop the Dolphins a bit further in the standings.
I am also concerned that someone is doing the picking for Luke. There is no way he could be right this often. Commish, give him Ed's number. That should cool him off. I will insist that the Commish open an investigation of Lucas' picking behavior.

The Ed Problem
Noted Colts lover and Pats hater Ed (he must be adopted) O'Leary has once again picked the Pats to lose. As commissioner, I have to remind all that he has a right to pick against the Pats. This is America, after all, and the league is progressive in its defense of our members' freedoms. But it does call for more stringent requirement measures. With this in mind, I have instituted a policy of membership authentication. Following Texas fine lead, henceforth all perspective members will be required to submit to the commissioner an original birth certificate. This will allay any festering doubts about Ed's parentage and American citizenship. In the meantime, let's support Ed as we would a member of the family.

Observations on Week 10
Some observations:
- Shared Best Pick of the Week goes to Brandy and Ryan for Seattle over the Cardinals. I didn’t see that one coming.
- Second Best Pick of the Week has to go to Lucas for his pick of the Cowboys over the Giants. I think I might have called him for his picks a little late at night, if you know what I mean.
- Most popular and successful pick was the Colts over the Bungles.
- Kevin remains the leader, two points higher than Wayne and Luke. Bran and Ryan now three points behind with 29. Sean and I follow with 28.
- Jo and Kev had great weeks with 10-4 records. Wayne’s and Brandy and Ryan’s hatred of the Pats kept them from tying Kev for the week. Ed’s hatred of the Pats kept him below .500 for the week.
- Coin toss was 5-9 and everyone is beating it, even Ed. Unsurprisingly, coin toss is 20-20 for the season.

Wow! One bad game and look at the fair weather Patriot fans dropping like flies! Figures Uncle Ed and Cuz Wayne would head the list! Brandy now has a separate bedroom! Lonf way to go but look for Buffalo to get a win. Patriots have a tough schedule but can still fare well. Tough loss for some of us on thursday. It is a good thing Marcus Emery is not in this pool-----life would be miserable for him. Understatement of the day by Theo: "Sox want to keep Martinez". That is groundbreaking stuff! So don't 30 other teams. Been a quiet week for rule changes and cuz's rants!!! Gotta see how the picks are doing.

Picking the Steelers
A true story.
Betsy's brother Marco, my boys and I had a pool going early in the 2000's. It was the playoffs, and the Colts had demolished a good Denver team by something like 45-7. The Patriots had squeaked by the Steelers 14-10. They were meeting at Foxborough and of course the boys and I picked the Pats. But Marcus, althouth professing to be a strong Patriots fan, was worried about the potent Colts offense, and he picked the Colts. The Pats won 14-3.
To this day, whenever Marco makes a comment on sports, on politics or on life, one of us will respond derisively with "Colts lover"!

Revised Stats
Brandy and Sean noticed my figures were off. Based upon 1 pt for each non-Monday night winner and 2 pts for the Monday night correct prediction, the following stats are operative:
Contact me if I've made an error.
Contact me if I've made an error.

Are the pts wrong??
Commish Arithmatic,
It appears the pts are incorrect. However, it may not matter. Everyone has picked the monday night game correctly for each week, therefore their pts should be 2 more than their record. Brandy thinks her score is the only one wrong and she should be awarded a pt because she was shorted, but I have decided to give justice to all. Anyway, let us know the verdict and we will decide if pursuit of an appeal is necessary.

Week 9 Observations
Observations from the Commissioner:
- Sean had a great week, setting a record at 11-2.
- Kevin, Wayne, and Luke remain strong.
- Sam rebounded nicely and Kate had a nice first week.
- The coin toss is holding its own.
- Only one of Wayne’s three gutsy picks was a winner, but he only lost Detroit because of a choke.
- Most disappointing bet: The Pats. Everyone picked them except for the coin toss.
- Most reassuring bet: The Steelers. Everyone picked them and they came through.
- Everyone but the coin toss picked the Pack.
- Falcons and Saints seemed like safe bets.
- It is sad that Kevin shares the lead. I fear it will only encourage his anti-social rantings.

Week 9 Early Results
• Sean is looking strong! He is 10-2 and he picked the Steelers for tonight, so he should end at 11-2.
• Five are at 9-3, and four at 8-4, so maybe we are getting better at this now that so much is at stake.
• The coin toss is at 7-5.
• Everyone picked the Steelers for tonight. Of course, everyone picked the Pats yesterday as well.
• I had both the Bills (choke!) and the Cardinals (choke). I could of been a contendah! Of course no one choked more than the Lions, picked by Wayne and Kate.

Are you kidding?
Can't believe how bad the Patriots were today. There should not be an easier team to beat on the schedule. On another note is was 72 degrees here today. Jo says she is going with the coin toss every week. Very scientific. Uncle Ed------don't try to analyze that game today. To the Commish----------------has Cuz W called lately about fouls or "I didn't mean to pick them" selections? We need to vote on this Kate thing with giving her the average for last week. The game is not played that way. Give it another week as is and she will be ahead of Cuz W anyway! I think Karen should have been in the pool too. Commish---how about a plastic "trophy" for whoever finishes last. Maybe it could rotate from year to year. But with Marcus in it, maybe it won't rotate each year! Got to go lick patriot wounds.

Wayne's Gutsy Picks
Cousin Wayne has made some interesting picks for the coming weekend.
Lions over the Jets
Seahawks over the Giants
Eagles over the Colts
Way to push the envelope Cousin Wayne!!
BTW, the commissioner's office has received two messages privately from pickers. The by-laws clearly state that the commissioner will not be a clearinghouse for rants and raves, therefore, they are published below. Please send emails to all pickers in the future, or risk losing valuable points. Better yet, post to the GO Zone and the posts are also sent as email.

I'm not sure you got my picks right. I think it was Keven's suspicious number system.
Kevin should be assessed a personal foul penalty of two losses for unnecessary confusion.
Cuz Wayne
and from Kevin:
I think we need to convene a meeting of the board of governors to discuss the pointless and much-twisted information coming from the commissioner's office. That aside, this could shape up into a great pool. Better to start calling Ed on wednesdays. He needs time. Is Wayne still whining or is he good with the team logos? We can change them for him if he likes!
