Observations on Week 1

 Some Observations from the Commish:

  1. The Carnage! The first few weeks of the new season are always fraught with bad picks, as most people are still evaluating teams from last year. But this week was particularly difficult for many members. Lindsey and Mike  had off weeks to start, both with 6-10 efforts. But we are comforted to know that Kevin was even worse at 5-11.  And Kev draws solace from the fact that Diane and Marcus had 4-12 weeks.
  2. Ed had a bit of an off week. Last year, he won the regular season and successfully stayed away from many off weeks. At 7-9 he was not too bad, but he had few weeks like this last year.
  3. Nick Leads that pack. Nick got off to a strong start with 11 points. Nick and I go back a long way and I am happy to see him start so well. He made some prescient picks, despite Deland calling him "lucky" and demanding an investigation into the matter. Guido also wants one, but he always wants one anyway.
  4. The Pats lost, despite winning virtually every statistic in the game except for points scored. It seems to me that the Eagles were simply toying with the Pats, putting in their veteran first stringers when things got tight at the end of the fourth quarter. I don't think the Eagles showed them much respect, and in crunch time, the Eagles dominated.
