A Dues Reminder, and Gracie

A reminder that dues are due at the end of February, and for those of you who are retired, that is this month. So far, Jo and Kev, Judy and the mighty Royces have paid. Interesting to note that 4 of the 6 are newbies.

Also, here is a video of my new, ridiculously expensive Mini Golden Doodle, Gracie.

You're welcome.

A Final Message, Dues and Awards

I am very pleased with the outcome of the football season. Once again it came down to the SuperBowl, and the Chappie award winner had to pick the winner correctly. And once agian members thought they had it won, only to be snatched away at the end.

Congratulation to Jo for an excellent year. Consistency was her friend for she never faltered, never had that one bad week we all seem to have. She stayed with the Pats and proved to be a very deserving winner. Wayne had a shot with his pick of the Falcons, and for a while it looked like he would make it, but it would have been tainted by an anti-Pats pick.

Members are reminded that their dues ($10) should be paid by the end of February. Members can see the history of dues payments here. Members should send checks to:

Mike O'Leary
15840 Key Grass Lane,
Fort Myers, FL 33905

It has not been established when awards will be, but the Uncanoonic location is a popular one. Kevin will be in charge of setting that up.

Thanks for a great season Go Zoners!

Mike

Great time

Congratulations Jo for an absolutely great finish! You sure know your football!  You should be on cloud nine, I am happy for you. And with that being said, I cannot tell you how much fun I have had with this league this winter. And it was very sweet to come out ahead of my brother for the season finals  and for the  Grand finale!  I will be excited for the league to start again in the fall. Thank you all so very much for letting me join you.

 Happy camper!

Jo Sill on Cloud 9 !

Still reeling from last night's Patriots comeback, I'm beyond belief and overwhelmed with emotion for my beloved Patriots and their fearless, classy and family-man leader TB12!  He represents everything I tried to instill in my own children and exudes positivity and confidence I see in Sean and Kate. I jumped put of my seat in the 3rd quarter, willed the Pats to comeback, rubbed my hands together as Millie used to, sent winning vibes to TB and his team to not give up but to buck up. I couldn't sit down the rest of the game and into the wee hours of the morning watching SC andESPN till 3am. I shed tears of joy and care for Tom's mother being able to see her son make history and could not stop sobbing for over an hour. For me, as a mom of 2 children who are extremely wonderful, talented, competetive and true leaders of sportsmanship from their young lives, through collegiate sports, and now as parents, my pride in them compares to how the Bradys raised and feel about their son.

All that being written, I thoroughly enjoyed this year and previous years being a member of the GO-ZONE win or lose. The ribbing, camaraderie, love of family is irreplaceable. I pinch myself every day to come from a loving and competitive Kelley family and to marry into Chappie & Mille's family which only doubled all the same values, sportsmanship and will to strive to be the best you can be!

A huge thanks to The Commish and Guido for their tireless efforts again this season. I treasure the belly laughs I experienced from posts of  The Commish, Wayne, Jude, Karen, Kirk, Diane and others. Wayne & Kirk, Girls Rule this year - Wicked Awesome!  I had Young Nick biting on my heels which kept me following every game this season trying to make the winning picks. Now only if my golf game could improve as my picks did this season!

So, as this season closed in amazing fashion, all ribbing aside, thanks for the memories and I look forward to many more GO-ZONE years!

Still Very Excited Yet Humbly Yours,
Jo - one ultimate Tom Brady/Patriots Fan

Congrats!

Congratulations to Aunt Jo. An impressive win to cap an impressive season.

However I must correct the Commish. I won the Chappie twice in a row in 2011 & 2012. Welcome to the club Aunt Jo. Very impressive.

Dues due

Hey gals and guys, let's not forget to send our $10 annual dues to the Commish.  He has been footing the expense for the trophies for far too long.

$10 is a meager charge for the fun we have, mostly at the Commish's expense.

Jo Is the Winner!!!

Jo finished the season in style, picking up the maximum 11 points on the Super Bowl to win the Chappie for 2016. Her 221 points was followed by 212 by Nick and 211 by Marcus. Having led the vast majority of the season, Jo follows up her tie for champion last year with solo possession of the trophy this year.

Making as valiant bid to win it all, Wayne picked the Falcons and suffered through a 1 point week. It must have been heart-breaking for him to be so close to an epic come-from-behind win, only to fall with the Patriots rally. Patrick, the other league member to pick against the Pats, came up a cropper, with 0 points for the week.

To add insult to injury, Wayne's big gambled offered a chance to his sister Judy to shoot ahead of him for the season, which she did 211 to 208.

Newbie Nick did very well with his second place finish. One can only wonder how much closer he would be had he backed the Patriots for the entire season.

This is a good opportunity to remind league members that their dues should be paid by the end of February. League members can check their dues status by clicking on the "League Finances" tab at the top of the blog.

Congratulations Jo! You are the first league member to win the Chappie twice in a row!

Congrats to Joanne

I guess this means I will cancel my flight to NH to pick up the Chappie Award this summer.  Congratulations to Joanne, who dominated the Zone from beginning to end this year.  She deserves her title of Champion.

What a comeback, one for the record books.

For those throwing the mud (although it smells like something else) at me and calling me despicable names, I had to pick the Falcons for any chance to win.  Picking the Pats would just be holding serve no matter the outcome of the game.

AND, before making what I knew to be a controversial pick, I sought and received a dispensation from our esteemed Commish to pick the Falcons.

I had the courage to go for the gold.

No one remembers who came in second...

2 hrs to kickoff

Well, just 2 hours until kickoff.

There is still some competition for the Chappie Award.

In the spirit of good sportsmanship, may the best man win!
